The Future of Carbon Finance: Scaling Finance for Nature-Based Climate Solutions
Co-hosted with Stanford University — the Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment and the Stanford Sustainability Accelerator — IGP brought together project developers, buyers, investors, insurers, lawyers, and finance professionals for a first look at The Future of Carbon Finance. The session explored the legal, commercial, financial, insurance, and governance infrastructure needed for institutional investors to finance nature-based carbon projects the way they finance infrastructure, energy, or real estate — followed by rooftop breakout discussions to turn the book's blueprint into practical market solutions.

Unlocking Capital for Nature: An Expert Working Session on Carbon Finance
A full-day, invitation-only working session that convened 85 experts across the market — project developers, buyers, investors, and intermediaries with direct transactional experience. Rather than panels and presentations, participants tackled the real challenges of carbon finance: building the infrastructure for carbon markets to operate like other financial markets, aligning investor return expectations with project realities, making offtake agreements bankable, and SPV structuring. The day's outcomes are being consolidated into a market playbook for scaling nature-based finance — the foundation of The Future of Carbon Finance.
